DESCRIPTION:The PMLA Act has been invoked very often recently and the Courts have come out with various new judgments that have clarified many provisions of the PMLA Act. The Chartered Accountants and Lawyers\, as professionals\, face threats in the form of action being taken against them\, given that they are privy to various transactions of those accused of money laundering. At the same time\, Chartered accountants and lawyers also are called upon to assist in preparing submissions and represent before the authorities in the confiscation and attachment proceedings. Many times\, practical approach is required to be taken.
